WHY IT'S NEVER REALLY ABOUT THE HOUSE

Why the Bigger House Isn't Really About the House

When a client tells me they need a bigger house, I don't take that at face value. I've learned that the real reason is almost never the first thing someone says.

The Question I Always Ask

"What's important about a bigger house for you?" I'll ask. "I need more room," they'll say. So I ask again. And again. Eventually, we get somewhere real, like a couple whose elderly parents may need to move in with them down the road. Once I know that, I'm not showing them square footage anymore. I'm showing them the next chapter of their life.

Why This Matters More in Caledon and the NW GTA

Around here, a lot of my clients are planning years ahead, not just for next year. A property with room for a parent, a home office, or a growing family changes what "the right house" even means. Getting to the real reason early saves everyone a lot of wasted showings.

What I've Learned After Years of This

People almost never regret the house they bought. They regret the one they walked away from, or letting someone rush them into a decision before they were ready.

If You're Thinking About Your Next Move

Let's talk about what's actually driving the decision, not just the listing criteria. Reach me at [email protected] or 905-965-5902, or listen to the latest episode of Real Estate Without The Noise for more on this.
